Inside Garmin’s R&D headquarters in Kansas, a small team of pilot-engineers called "Team X" is changing avionics. One of their best-selling innovations was born during a weekend coding session when their wives were out of town: the innovative GFC500 autopilot. Even the FAA got into the act with new rules facilitating nontraditional compliance with FAA safety regulations. Garmin’s wizards are bringing affordable innovation and improving the safety of flight.
