One of the great joys of flying is the amazing people you meet. I have shaken hands with Chuck Yeager and Harrison Ford, learned spins from Admiral Bill Finagin, heard eye-popping stories from Thunderbird pilot Ron Maness, and learned about secretive “Misty” missions from F-100 pilot John Boles. But of all the flyers I have met, my favorite is Major Dick Walter. He’s not famous, but his story will set your hair on fire.
