I have mixed reactions about Sun-n-Fun (this was the 2022 event, but the feelings apply to every year); some elements were brilliant and wonderful while other portions were weird and more than slightly unpleasant. I’m not complaining about the flying; my trip was fine and the show was splendid. The flight line displays were vast and varied; in particular the Air Force stepped up with an impressive array of jumbo-sized hardware. The impossibly-shiny B-29 “Doc” made an appearance. Two twilight airshows, one on Wednesday and a grand finale on Saturday, were both thrilling and beautiful. But under the hood, there’s trouble in paradise.
