Plane Ownership

In the summer of 2019 I was plane-spotting at a Florida runway. Another gentleman wandered over, his grey hair and comfortable demeanor suggesting many years in the cockpit. The conversation quickly focused on our planes. “I’ve got a $200,000 antique biplane with a quarter million dollars of new toys in it, and I’ll never see that money again,” he concluded, “But I’m okay with that.” He was okay losing a quarter of a million dollars? My heart nearly stopped because I had just invested a small fortune into the panel on my Centurion. Was that money gone?
