My colleagues at this magazine and others have diligently recorded chronologies of the flying, the forums, the exhibits, the innovations, and even the weather at Oshkosh 2023 for your review at your leisure. To broadly recapitulate all of that excellent reporting—with the only difference being the view from my campsite—would be tedious. A better frame of reference, I think, is to dive-deep into just a few moments of the affair. As such, I offer you a series of vignettes. These are not the best-known events, like when the U-2 spy plane gave us an unannounced airshow. Nor the most crowded, like when a thousand women in blue tee shirts celebrated under a huge Boeing Dreamlifter. But I want to spotlight the hundreds of small moments that demonstrate the skills, the ingenuity, the shared community, the playfulness, and the energy of the people of AirVenture. People are why we keep coming back.
