In an airplane, a nose-dive is scary. But when an entire organization is in a nose-dive the results can be even more calamitous. Such was the condition of the historic fly-in called Sentimental Journey, which for 39 years reappeared on the ramp at the Lock Haven (PA) airport as regularly as the swallows returning to Capistrano. But the fly-in’s management team grew older, turned inward, and stopped innovating. The event languished. Slowly at first and then suddenly, it slipped into a nose-dive. COVID nearly killed it. But a dedicated new team of airport lovers arrived, and in 2025 made their first steps to pulling this fly-in out of the dive without pulling off the wings.
