This past weekend, my local airport threw a splendid Young Eagles event. The weather was fine, the kids were excited, the parents nervous and the pilots… well, we muddle along just fine as long as there’s beer in the fridge. I love flying Young Eagle missions. The opportunity to introduce kids to flying is one of the biggest highlights of my flying all year long. A Young Eagle ride may be just a quick trip in the sky, but it’s also an introduction to grown-up behaviors that can last a lifetime.
