The Hudson River is about a mile wide as it flows past Manhattan Island; Manhattan is on the east side and New Jersey is on the west. The Hudson River Special Flight Rules area defines the Hudson River Corridor. The corridor is about 27 nm long on a roughly north-south line. It runs over the Hudson River from the Verrazano Bridge in the south to the Alpine Tower in the north.
